Job Description Summary

We are seeking a qualified, safety-minded, detail oriented, highly organized individual with strong computer and communication skills to work as a Cost Accountant. This position offers a diverse set of entry level and accounting related job responsibilities. The desired candidate will embrace a team concept when completing assigned tasks along with a strong commitment to do whatever is necessary to perform high quality work, meet deadlines and finish assigned tasks.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities of the position include:
  • Ensure company compliance with all applicable SOX requirements
  • Supports the Controller and Operations Management team.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against established targets
  • Preparing and presenting auditors with information and financial reports during an audit
  • Executes the monthly closing procedures which include recording journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts and ensuring all entries are properly recorded.
  • Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Possess strong organizational, analytical and communication skills, and an ability to work under pressure handling multiple and shifting priorities
  • Excellent computer skills including email, Internet, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Any other duties as assigned

 

Education/Experience

The educational and experience requirement of the position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Viewpoint Accounting System preferred.
  • Strong system and analytical skills.
  • Microsoft Excel knowledge.
  • The ability to interact with employees at every level of the organization.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Work Requirements

  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the office dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must have the ability to work without close supervision.
