Job Summary

 

This position offers diverse responsibilities and will work alongside senior management as Controller of the newly formed Oldcastle Lawn and Garden Mid-Atlantic Division on various matters and projects. The candidate is a skilled financial professional who understands business, operations, and financial processes; can integrate finance and operations and collaborate with operational leadership to successfully manage the business.  Core behavioral characteristics we seek include being a partner to business managers, implementing analytical decision-making, proactively finding opportunities, and recommending ideas for increased profitability through detailed financial analysis.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Direct supervision of the accounting team
  • Financial responsibility for a region consisting of 7 manufacturing plants
  • Involved in the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring all statements are appropriately analyzed and correctly stated
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Perform month-end closing activities – accruals, subledger reconciliations, statistical entries, etc.
  • Prepare for and respond to internal and external audit requests
  • Analyzes input costs, monitors cost fluctuations, and makes recommendations for adjustments
  • Plans and supports physical inventory audits
  • Compile/analyze financial data from multiple sources by way of Excel, Tableau, Infor M3
  • Work with the Controller to ensure adequate SOX and internal controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets
  • Other duties as may be assigned

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience (MBA / CPA a plus)
  • 3+ years experience in general accounting/finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with standard cost accounting, inventory management, GAAP, Sales and Use Taxes
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel domestically
