Job Summary

 

The CAD/BIM Manager is the key supporting function for OI’s business to establish, organize, and manage our CAD and BIM standards and provide our customers with an accurate view of what we will be providing based on project plans and specifications and to provide our production staff with accurate drawings to produce from. 

 

The CAD/BIM Manager is responsible for working closely with the Plant Engineer, Sales, Production, and Quality Control, providing accurate submittal drawings based on project plans and specifications for customers and to provide accurate production drawings for the plant based on the plant engineer’s design.  They would also keep our standard BIM/CAD templates up to date and shared within the group.

 

The CAD/BIM Manager is an individual that exhibits meticulous attention to detail while managing multiple projects and has excellent spatial awareness.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Review project plans and specifications for appropriate product submittal drawings.  Including layout of structure pieces, details, and notes.
  • Provide timely production drawings for review and engineering approval
  • Review and approval of other drafters’ drawings for production
  • Identify potential operational issues and redesign product to improve functionality
  • Prepare, modify, and maintain standard submittal and production drawings
  • Prepare, modify, and maintain catalog and web drawings
  • Communicate with the customer when appropriate for special projects
  • Backup the Quality Control team as needed
  • Maintain a logical file structure for all drawings

 

Key Performance Measurements

 

  • On-time drawing delivery rate
  • First Pass Yield (minimal drawing mistakes)
  • Utilization rate of drafting team (ensure all drafters have work)

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of how to read and interpret civil plans and specifications
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or Inventor and Microsoft office
  • Experience working with Tekla or other 3D drafting software (BIM)
  • Good Mathematical skills to calculate dimensions, weights, and volumes

 

Preferred Requirements

 

  • 2+ years of recent drafting experience
  • Proficient with Tekla BIM software
  • Construction experience a plus
  • Knowledge of software for proposal drawings
