Position Overview

Responsible for the safety, operations, scheduling, training, quality, coaching and productivity of all earthwork & grading crew personnel and equipment within United Companies. Ensure efficient production while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of United Companies and CRH.

 

Wage ranges from $75k to $85k annually, dependent on experience.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Employee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with CRH Core Values at the forefront.
  • Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Supervise Foreman ; indirectly oversee field personnel.
  • Ensure jobs are completed on schedule, within budget and meet customer's expectations.
  • Serve as a safety ambassador by complying with federal, state, and local laws, as well as Company safety policy.
  • Proactively identify and remedy job-site hazards.
  • Set the production schedule along with the Construction Manager and Project Managers.
  • Collaborate with Construction Manager and Project Manager to ensure resources (human, material, and equipment) are properly managed, utilized and accurately accounted for.
  • Develop and modify work processes to ensure the highest standards for quality, productivity, and profitability.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team to coordinate and deliver exceptional customer service and a quality product.
  • Attend bid reviews and pre-construction conferences.
  • Make certain that all jobs are reviewed and correctly laid out before crews arrive on site.
  • Develop and maintain quality controls.
  • Represent the Company and interact professionally with customers, vendors, sub-contractors, and the public.
  • Motivate, mentor, and develop direct reports.
  • Complete administrative tasks promptly and efficiently, daily time sheet approval, coding of invoices, job-site hazard analysis, mileage reports, other required reports.
  • Hiring and disciplinary lead for all grading crew personnel.
  • Administer D.O.T. and CDL compliance for all department employees.
  • Any and all other duties assigned.   • Ensure that all operations are in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, MSHA, etc.
  • Monitor construction operational performance against budget, performance, target setting, and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement operational performance optimization opportunities to enhance the company’s financial returns.
  • Implement and manage the equipment and construction production maintenance best practices, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance, and equipment utilization.
  • Assist Accounting in construction production and costs.
  • Manage the personnel via department leaders in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable employment laws. This includes training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding employees, disciplining employees, long term personnel development and succession planning, as well as addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations required.

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook, and database software. Must be able to utilize internet and communicate effectively.
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check will be required.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Standard state-issued driver’s license

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to train, motive and lead employees.
  • Basic knowledge of labor and employment laws.
  • Demonstrate basic mathematical skills as well as the ability to interpret and compute basic formulas.
  • Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
  • Demonstrate a strong dedication to meeting the needs and expectations of our external customers.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
  • Ability to facilitate change management and influence positive responses.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently walk and sit as well as occasionally required to stand and reach.
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways, and access elevated platforms.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
