Position Overview

The Equipment Supervisor is responsible for managing the repair and maintenance of all equipment assets assigned to their respective division.  The goal for the group is to provide safe and efficient services that maximize asset utilization and reduce downtime. 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide proactive leadership that promotes the Safety Culture of the organization.
    • Leads and participates in daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Requires PPE adherence in shop and in the field.
  • Promotes and encourages the principals of 5S.
  • Develops and implements Vehicle/Pedestrian Segregation plans at each shop.
  • Conducts routine inspection and certification of equipment.
  • Directs R&M services with effective scheduling and coordination.
  • Utilize CMMS for Work Order Requests and PM service needs.
  • Prioritize repairs based on need of asset, cost, and time of repair.
  • Assign tasks based on mechanic skill and repair difficulty.
  • Review and approve cost reporting on a daily basis.
  • Utilize Infield to review and approve mechanic staff time and cost coding.
  • Review and approve coding and cost of PO requests for parts, supplies, and services.
  • Review performance metrics and financial reports periodically.
    • Review utilization hours and cost weekly.
    • Reviews shop and equipment financials on a monthly basis.
  • Understands and monitors performance goals and equipment scorecard metrics.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Operations staff.
  • Provide updates on down assets and repair schedules.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to The Mountain Companies policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all of The Mountain Companies employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Willingness to develop subordinates’ technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate.
  • Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education and Experience

Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
