Position Overview

In this role, you will coordinate both personnel and equipment on heavy civil construction projects of various sizes. Managing day-to-day relations with the construction crews and the client, traveling to various job sites as needed. As the Construction Superintendent, you’ll see the visible results of your work each day, playing an integral part as we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.

What You Can Do (Minimum Qualifications)

  • You have a background in heavy civil construction, specifically grading, excavation, underground utilities, site work, asphalt paving, and/or projects with related scopes. (3-6 years).
  • You’re an effective leader who is skilled in managing all aspects of multiple construction projects at a time, including personnel, scheduling, and equipment (3+ years) .
  • You’re passionate about providing coaching, mentoring, and feedback, as well as promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
  • You have excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work well with a wide range of personality types.
  • You’re proficient with PC Programs and the Microsoft Office Suite and possess the ability to quickly learn new programs and applications.
  • You have a valid driver’s license, the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and have current US Authorization to work, or the ability to obtain prior to start without company assistance.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Work with Project Manager/Estimator to develop project schedules and updates.
  • Work with or in lieu of the dispatcher to schedule projects, personnel, and equipment. equipment movement and transport schedules.
  • Participate in project meetings with contracting agencies and customers.
  • Participate as required in pre-bid and post job meetings to evaluate performance and profitability of project to ensure goals are attainable and being met.
  • Interface daily with job forepersons to ascertain their needs, problems and job progress.
  • Make sure that forepersons have the timecards for their crew turned in on a timely basis and that coding is correct, and the forepersons has signed card. Also ensure all required equipment documentation is completed and accurate.
  • Check daily cost sheets for correctness, compliance with estimated cost, and if over budget, find out why and report to management.
  • Prior to job startup, review with the job foreperson the project plans, specifications and review the project startup list to ensure that each item is done, i.e. dig line has been contracted.
  • Assist Estimating by providing feedback on job progress as opposed to as estimated.
  • Assist Estimating as available by performing field measurements determining sources.
  • Check that forepersons job quantities are correct and submitted
  • Supervise forepersons and other related employees.
  • Travel to and from various jobs sites as needed.
  • Routinely assist other members of the workforce in different areas of production.
  • Regular and timely attendance.

  • GRIP – with at least 90 lbs. of force                  
  • CLIMBING – in, around, and on equipment                    
  • HEAVY LIFTING – of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to 75 lbs. from floor to waist
  • AWKWARD POSITIONS – getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground
  • FLEXIBILITY – awkward reaches                      
  • BALANCE – including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.         
  • VISION – 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions
  • HEARING – corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers
