Position Overview

This position is responsible for performing finish grade work as well as other various duties pertaining to operator position. This position may work weekends and travel occasionally depending on job location. Must have a valid driver license. This a full time seasonal position. Duties may consist of operation of lead hoe, excavation, roller, blade, loader, or other heavy equipment. Must demonstrate speed, ability and accuracy.  Will require working around and under buried and overhead utility’s often. Must demonstrate ability to work with different crews. In various positions, in various locations.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Perform routinely ability to read grade, blue prints and be able to comprehend.
  • Analyze problem situations and resolve quickly.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear
  • Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance area
  • Responsible daily record keeping, safety meetings, Quality assurance set by superintendent.
  • May work in shop , yard, or on jobsites
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

  • Must have ability to interpret and apply verbal and / or written instructions
  • Experience in lead equipment position or finish blade operator a must.  
  • Must pass pre-employment work screen and controlled substance testing.
  • Must have valid driver license.
  • Class A CDL preferred.

  • Demonstrates proper lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling techniques.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work without supervision
  • Demonstrates good performance , safety, quality  and attendance
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

 Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • 5 years experience as finish blade operator or lead equipment operator
  • Must have experience with commercial site packages/ spec work
  • Safety Oriented, knows safety rules on trenching, and spotting, etc.

 Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. May need to lift/push/move up to 50 pounds. Physical abilities test is required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
