Position Summary

The Assistant Dispatcher is responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks to promote effective daily business operations.  Position requires availability to work 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days per week.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of administrative and office tasks based upon the position hired for within the Transportation office.
  • Assists lead dispatcher/supervisor with organizing trucks as needed.
  • Assists lead dispatcher/supervisor with our Telematics program’s (Trackit & Fleetwatcher).
  • Maintain employee Drivers Files.
  • Ability to oversee KPI trucking metrics and prepare reports to management.
  • Efficient in (or ability to) analyze trucking metrics and adjust where necessary.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel (intermediate user)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Has a good understanding of aggregate trucking and knowledge of dispatching trucks to job sites and/or external customers.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed and involved instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.    

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CDL Driver’s License is preferred but not required.
