Position Overview

Reporting to the Company President, the Vice President of Finance provides strategic financial leadership, works closely with senior management, and serves as a key member of the North and East Texas Leadership Team. This role oversees all finance and accounting functions, drives organizational improvement, and prepares teams to support rapid growth.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

·  Partners with the President, CFO, and senior leaders on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range strategy.

·  Provide strategic financial support for the evaluation of capital expenditures, contracts, forecasts, budgets, strategic plans, and other financial issues affecting the business.

·  Prepares operating budgets, management reports, and financial economic analyses of business opportunities to support executive decision-making.

·  Oversees company accounting team personnel and functions in the day-to-day financial activities of the Company and the preparation of internal financial statements.

·   Oversees company-related functions that work with all areas of our businesses, including the regional accounting department, fixed assets, liquid asphalt, etc.

·   Ensures that effective corporate and operational systems are established and maintained.

·   Manage compliance with state tax (sales, income, etc.) laws, including collection, payment and reporting.

·   Drives for organizational improvement, envisions and creates more efficient service centers.

·   Ensure that adequate controls are implemented and maintained to safeguard the financial risk and assets of the organization.

·   Assists in the integration of accounting systems for newly acquired entities.

·   Organizes, interprets, and presents operating and financial data, including identification of significant indicators to senior management.

·   Recommend and lead new efforts to improve management and financial performance.

·   Coordinate with auditors in the preparation of audited financial statements.

·   Ensure the motivation and team building, performance management, career development, and succession planning for all department employees.

·   Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance of the finance and accounting functions. Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve and help execute staff succession and growth plans.

·   Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

·    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business; CPA and/or MBA preferred, but not required.

·    5-10 years of relevant financial management experience.

·    Strong financial analysis skills, including cash flow modeling and analysis.

·    Demonstrated success in leading teams and developing talent.

·    Proven ability to develop relationships, build trust, and collaborate across an organization.

·    Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.

·    Strong business acumen in construction, manufacturing and/or distribution industries.

·    Expertise in financial operations, process improvement, and internal control frameworks.

·    Experience with Outlook, MS Office programs, Hyperion financial software and other web-based programs.

·    Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and project management skills.

·    High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.

·    Ability to translate business objectives into actionable, measurable initiatives.

·    Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.

·    Strong action orientation and drive for results.

·    Ability to navigate ambiguity and facilitate change.

 

General Requirements

·    Ability to attend meetings and events at various off-site locations.

·    Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends when necessary.

·    Ability to travel at least 25%
