Roles and Responsibilities  

(Essential Duties and Functions) 

  • Adhere to all MSHA and Company safety rules/regulations. 

  • Inspect work area and fill out Work Area Inspection forms daily and Production Report. 

  • Keep walkways, catwalks, stairways, platforms, and conveyor frames clean and free of debris and garbage. 

  • Check and Maintain conveyor belts, scrapers, skirt boards, idlers, pulleys, guards and bearings. 

  • Grease all bearings on head pulley, tail pulley, upper bend pulley, lower bend pulley and gravity take-up pulley of conveyors (where applicable) according to specified maintenance schedule. 

  • Check and maintain oil levels in gearboxes, crushers, and screens according to specified schedule. 

  • Check screen deck panels for wear and report condition on work area inspection sheet. 

  • Change screen deck panels when required. 

  • Check water system, including spray bars and water lines. 

  • May be called upon at discretion of the Foremen to perform any other duties assigned and to assist other departments if necessary. 

  • Demonstrate ability to learn for training classes given. 

  • Must learn to operate the overhead cranes. 

  • Must be able to operate the re-crush process. 

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all duties safely. 

  • Learn and implement MSHA standards and regulations to insure a safe operating environment is maintained at all times.  Report any safety concerns to the foreman immediately. 

  • Regular and timely attendance is required. 

  

Qualifications  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  

 

Education/Experience 

Required 

  • High School or equivalent 

  • Mechanical skills/aptitude required.  

  • Must be able to cut and weld efficiently. 

  • Must have knowledge of production equipment used in the Plant operation. 

  • Must possess the ability to properly splice and maintain conveyor belts. 

  • Knowledge of production equipment used in operation. 

  • Must be able to identify areas of contamination. 

  • Must learn to operate/control plant. 

  • Must be able to change bearings on all conveyor pulleys & screens. 

  

Work Requirements 

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. 

  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, as required. 

  • Must be flexible and able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature depending on priorities.  The ability to multi-task is essential.  

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Dust masks & Hearing Protection. 

  

Knowledge/Skill Requirements 

  • Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, test standards, reports, manuals, and regulations. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with and work professionally with other personnel and agency representatives.  

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
