Job Description

 

  • The Product Engineer performs, oversees, and directs the product design, detailing and specifications along with the product prototyping and testing of polymer concrete or injection molded composites enclosures. 
  • The Product Engineer will work with the Process Engineer on product design, mold design and plant capacity for any new or revised product.
  • The Product Engineer will assist the Product Management team for the product development stages and assist the Process Engineer for the product manufacturing process integration.
  • The Product Engineer will support the sales and customer service team in the pre-sale and post-sale processes.

 

Essential Duties

 

  • Perform, manage, and assist in new product calculation, design, tooling, and detailing.
  • Oversee and assist in new product prototyping and testing.
  • Oversees the CAD drafting Team
  • Drives new product tooling capitalization process with Product Manager.
  • Review accuracy of product designs and drawings performed by CAD drafting team.
  • Assist the product management team in the product development process (stage gate).
  • Assist the process engineering team in the product manufacturing process.
  • Manage the revision-controlled document workflow (PDM) for the specific product line.
  • Provide technical support for engineering request – specials, shop drawings, certifications, quality control documents & propose specifications.
  • Provide technical support to the sales and customer service team for the specific product line.
  • Attend jobsites visits and customer meetings as needed to support sales in a technical role.
  • Set goals and expectations, communicate weekly with key internal customers related to project status / backlog.

 

Required Training or Certifications

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in mechanical design
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience with 3D software (Autodesk Inventor knowledge is an asset)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing processes
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management is an asset
  • Professional Engineer registered in one or more States is an asset
  • Experience with concrete or polymer concrete is an asset
  • Experience in team management and leadership is an asset
  • Experience in finite element analysis software tools is an asset.

 

Physical/ Mental/ Environmental Demands 

 

  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, strength to lift and carry files and products weighing up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
  • Must be able to work in plant production environment as needed to validate designs, review progress on special projects, perform job safety analysis, and other tasks which will result in some exposure to noise, dust, cold, etc.
  • Must be able to wear PPE when applicable and follow all safety measures
  • Overnight/Business Travel approximately 10% within the US, Canada, and Mexico
