Summary:
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, mobile maintenance work requiring a detailed and well-rounded knowledge of specialized mechanical techniques. Inspects, evaluates and performs mechanical repair for faulty equipment. Performs preventative maintenance on plant mobile equipment and machinery to ensure proper operation. Complies with all applicable safety policies and regulations. It is the responsibility of all employees at the Leamington plant to work in a safe manner. Employees are fully expected to engage in our See Stop Do culture following all safety procedures and proactively stopping the job and reporting unsafe conditions, hazards or concerns.
What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines
- Performs assembly, adjustment, preventative maintenance, and welding on all types of mining, light vehicle and support equipment such as diesel and gasoline engines, cranes, forklifts, heavy earth moving equipment, and plant support equipment.
- Performs diagnostic measures, repairs or replacing parts on mechanical issues related to quarry and plant support equipment these issues can include but are not limited to mechanical, electrical, or hydraulics, etc.
- Ability to weld and cut metal, the operation of saws, grinders, presses, other hand tools and hoists.
- Documents repairs needed and creates work orders, as well as making repairs and adjustments to assure correct operation.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Responsible for conducting daily safety inspections including workplace exams, equipment checkout and completing associated forms.
- Performs general housekeeping duties and job cleanup and assure proper disposal of oil and greases.
- Utilizes parts catalog to locate parts, follows proper procedures with procurement, handling, and storage.
- May provide vacation relief coverage for the Maintenance Supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:
- High school graduation or equivalent is required
- Associates degree or equivalent in technical areas of mobile equipment repair and maintenance
- Preferred 5 years of experience Mobile equipment maintenance experience preferred in similar or related industrial facility.
- Has a working knowledge of welding, hydraulics, rigging, fabrication, cutting torch basics, mechanics, torque wrenches and related mechanical maintenance functions.
- The ability to operate mobile equipment such as a forklift, loader, overhead crane, various kinds of trucks, manlifts, skid steer and related equipment is required.
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, signs and interpret and follow instructional and maintenance manuals and demonstrate skills in basic mathematics is required.
- Read and understand operating manuals, hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Skills needed include communication and problem solving skills.
- Work requires walking, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, pushing, pulling, working in awkward positions, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
What to expect in a cement environment:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
