Summary:

 

This position is responsible for the support of our internal month-end close process, as well as provides oversite and management of inventory production and adjustment activities.

 

Essential Duties:

 

  • Perform month end closing activities – accruals, production entries, inventory adjustments, depletion entries, etc.
  • Investigate and resolve unusual items and discrepancies in general ledger and sub-ledger accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of timely and complete financial statements and other reports provided to management
  • Assists in the compilation of documentation for internal and external audits
  • Provide support for monthly forecasts and annual budgets
  • Coordinate accounting and operational matters with other departments
  • Maintain accurate inventory reporting for all ready-mix and block plant locations
  • Assist with the coordination of the physical inventory count and complete the month-end inventory reconciliation to include a review of ending inventory
  • Responsible for the posting and reconciliation of the weekly ready-mix and block production values
  • Assist with the annual setting of standard costs for all ready-mix and block plant locations who use this as a method to value their inventory
  • Manage the capped inventory process
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies regarding standard and common procedures to ensure SOX compliance
  • Participate in various special projects as required to assist the department and the company in achieving its goals and objectives
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage the materials sales and inventory production team to include but not limited to the following:
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Willingness to develop direct reports technical skills and provide guidance on how they can improve
  • Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner
  • Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices

 

Education:

 

  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance, preferred

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 7+ years General Ledger Accounting Experience, required
  • 3+ years Management experience is preferred
  • Experience with large ERP systems is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast paced constantly changing environment
  • Possess complex problem-solving skills with a research-focused, analytical mindset
  • Open and adaptable to change and willing to learn new skills
  • Positive, upbeat, friendly attitude and mindset
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, aptitude to focus on tasks until complete, and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Capacity to follow up on pending issues
  • Dedication to accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge and ability to place a high emphasis on controls surrounding financial reporting as it pertains to GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley guidelines
