Position Overview

The Controller provides financial and analytical leadership to the Preferred Materials Concrete line of business in accordance with CRH reporting standards.  The primary function of the Controller will be overseeing the annual budget and monthly forecasting processes. Additionally, the Controller will provide financial leadership by working with the OpCo President and VP/GMs to drive results and manage both risk and opportunities.  The Controller will support all sectors of the Preferred Materials Concrete line of business including Ready Mix, Block and Gunite. 


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Accurately collect, analyze, verify, and report financial information via the Company’s financial systems.
  • Effectively manage e direct report(s) by providing oversight, assessing performance, and providing support and development opportunities.
  • Meet accounting and financial objectives by forecasting, preparing an annual budget, analyzing variances, and collaborating with Operations for corrective actions.
  • Confirm financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; and preparing special reports.
  • Assist with managing inventory (valuation, shrinkage and accuracy).
  • Complete all assigned month end reporting in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Request submissions and report on progress of approved projects on a monthly basis.
  • Work successfully with other team members and departments by providing and promoting effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Work closely with our Mobile Equipment Team to manage the group’s mobile assets.
  • Complete additional ad hoc projects as assigned. 



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance. 
  • A minimum of five years managerial/leadership experience in a finance role including leading a team of finance professionals.
  • Manufacturing and/or construction background along with multi-unit operations highly desired.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.


Additional Requirements

  • Travel 15%-20%.

  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing, e-mail communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
