Summary & Job Scope

This position is responsible for the management and direction of our Credit and Collections department and ensuring business targets related to trade working capital, DSO, and bad debt are met, while maintaining a solid support structure for the company’s sales division.


Essential Duties


  • Monitor, collect, and forecast portfolio of accounts receivable balances of specific key accounts and high- risk customers.  
  • Review current processes and systems in order to evaluate and implement solutions to improve credit and collections activities
  • Partner with both Sales and Operations personnel in the collections process to implement actions to optimize collection efforts
  • Leverage the use of Bectran to access reports and metrics to assist in determining credit worthiness of existing and potential customers that represents the appropriate level of risk for the company  
  • Review and approve in-house lien filings, work with outside attorneys on legal matters providing guidance on settlement options, as well as working with upper management regarding recommendations on these issues
  • Participate in various special projects as required to assist the department and the company in achieving its goals and objectives Responsible for evaluating and assisting in the implementation of any future A/R collection/reporting system or upgrade

  • Ensure credit practices, policies and controls are established and maintained
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies regarding standard and common procedures to ensure SOX compliance


Supervisory Responsibilities


  • Manage a team with 12 members (9 direct reports and 3 in-direct reports)
  • Willingness to develop direct reports’ technical skills and provide guidance on how they can improve 
  • Must possess the ability to plan, assign, and direct work
  • Must be able to manage employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary
  • Will be responsible for addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner
  • Should possess the ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices


Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or exhibit the appropriate level of financial acumen, business operational knowledge, and have 10+ years of construction industry experience




  • 5+ years of Construction and Florida Lien Law experience 
  • 3+ years Management experience 
  • Experience with managing a large receivable portfolio 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced constantly changing environment 
  • Ability to handle, take pressure, and be able to provide results
  • Possess complex problem-solving skills with a research-focused, analytical mindset
  • Open and adaptable to change and willing to learn new skills
  • Personable and easy to approach with a positive, upbeat attitude and mindset
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, aptitude to focus on tasks until complete, and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Dedication to accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively follow-up on pending issues
  • Knowledge and ability to place a high emphasis on controls surrounding financial reporting as it pertains to GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley guidelines
