The Aggregate Mining & Project Manager reports to the Quarry Operations Manager and is responsible for operational support projects at the Marble Falls quarry that include but are not limited to: Safety Improvement, drilling and blasting improvements, efficiency improvement, quality improvement, maintenance improvement and compliance improvement.

 

  • Maintain daily control of project(s): management and coordination of onsite personnel, equipment operations and subcontractor activities
  • Oversee all drilling and blasting operations at the quarry
  • Review and follow the mine plan set by the land owner
  • Knowledgeable with MSHA/OSHA specifications
  • Ensure all operations are in full compliance with Federal/State/Local Regulations
  • Read and comprehend project specifications
  • Accurate pricing of products based on given cost factors
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates using historical data and productivity modules
  • Assists operations with tracking project costs and revenues
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors, contractors, as well as, customers/owners and representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and operating guidelines
  • Oversee and direct all project personnel
  • Regularly check water pumps, fire extinguisher inspections, and pit floor elevations
  • Clean highwalls in preparation for blasting shot layouts
  • Accurate and timely preparation of project schedules, timecards, equipment hours, production reports and purchase orders
  • Must have a good understanding of mining methods and materials
  • Must be knowledgeable with project layouts
  • Daily communications with internal/external stakeholders regarding project status
  • Monitor project costs and revenues by reviewing internal project reports and meeting frequently with representatives on pay quantities prior to each estimate
  • Optimize project efficiencies in transportation, materials and productivity rates
  • Ensure the project meets or exceeds the QC/QA goals
  • Report problems and findings to operations manager
  • Effectively manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Assist in dealing with employee issues and vendor performance issues
  • Ability to resolve problems and make project decisions that maximize project opportunities
  • Display strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • Actively participate in industry and product related associations, training programs, conferences, seminars and educational forums to develop and maintain key networking and business relationships.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mining, Project Management or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Experience in aggregate or construction processing procedures and processes
  • Ability to use equipment, tools, and electronic technology effectively
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen; be knowledgeable in regards to current and possible future industry trends.
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers – both internal and external.
  • Be pro-active, self-motivated, self-starter who is action oriented and drives for results.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-based approach.
  • Highly ethical.
  • Be proficient in basic Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people within the Company
  • Must have the drive and self-discipline to work independently within territory to accomplish goals.
  • Have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

 

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 work eligibility document
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (up to 50%).
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Required to answer company phone at all hours
  • Report to work at the designated start time
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions
  • Must have the ability to work without close supervision.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA

  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, talk and hear.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle frequently, such as pick-up truck, often in rough, uneven conditions. Including mounting and dismounting equipment.
  • Inspect project progress by walking throughout the quarry, which often involves walking on slopes and uneven terrain or rocks.
  • Climbing steps.
  • Maintaining mental alertness at all times to ensure safety of all employees.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift, stand, walk and bend.

 

Work Environment

  • Tempo is fast-paced with deadlines.
  • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be moderate.
