Position Summary


The Accounting Clerk's primary responsibility is to ensure completeness and accuracy of various accounting functions. These functions include invoicing; cash applications; inventory management; reporting; credit memos; and auditing the accuracy of customer pricing. The Accounting Clerk will work directly with customers and internal staff to resolve invoice discrepancies and improve the efficiency of the sales order management process. The Accounting Clerk will follow accounting procedures and company policies under the work direction of the Sr. Accountant.


Essential Duties and Functions


Daily Activities

  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes on invoices
  • Investigate discrepancies and errors for customer invoicing including short paid invoices
  • Field questions from internal and external customers related to customer invoices
  • Ensure correct pricing is listed on orders and pack lists
  • Verify that sales tax is applied correctly
  • Generate engineering billings in a timely matter
  • Process in-house cash applications for AWS, AMTC, and Westile divisions
  • Ensure proper application to outstanding invoices
  • Maintain record of cash payment deductions and ensure validity of adjustments
  • Process daily cash sale invoicing and cash application
  • File cash application batches by date for future access
  • Enter approved invoices into Accounts Payable ledger for payment
  • Set up approved wire transfers and ACH payments
  • Investigate and resolve payment issues
  • Process credit memos to customer accounts on pricing or other billing discrepancies for AWS, AMTC, and Westile
  • Generate credits for rebate and co-op advertising programs
  • Maintain filing of credit memos in customer folder


Other Activities

  • Accurately and timely processing of royalty and mold rental reports
  • Assist Sr. Accountant with month-end financial close duties
  • Proactively examine accounts and work to resolve issues, bring to manager’s attention when required
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Provide backup support to finance department
  • Assist with office management tasks, as needed
  • Distribute mail internally
  • File monthly reports and credits for AWS
  • Look for ways to streamline and improve our business or processes
  • P-Card expense approval backup for Sr. Accountant
  • Other duties as assigned




  • 2-year college certificate; or high school degree and equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in a bookkeeping, accounting or auditing clerk type role
  • previous knowledge of administrative & clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology
  • Effective mathematical skills to solve problems and make decisions
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels within an organization
  • Well-organized, with excellent follow through, an ability to work well under pressure, to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, and an ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong listening and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer experience, particularly with Microsoft Office products
