Position: Production Operator C 

Reports to: Shift Supervisor 

Shift: 12 hour rotating continental shifts  

Pay: $42.65/hr, yearly increase in October; this is a collective bargaining position.

What you’ll be contributing:

 

The main function of the Production Operator in to provide coverage for all positions within the shift team, excluding Material tester and Console operator, and also assist other shift members as required.

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of shift positions ( Mill Attendant, Kiln Helper, Crane, Tower Operator and Fuel Attendant) as required
  • Assist shift members as required
  • Operate pellitizer and slag dryer as required
  • Operate Lime injection system
  • Load CKD dust truck as required
  • Convey operational information during shift change
  • May be required to move raw material when they are not required under normal classifications
  • Housekeeping duties as assigned
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor  

 

To succeed in this position, you will need: 

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required 
  • Must have a valid "G" class, driver's license
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided  
  • Knowledge of all production processes
  • Perform well in critical situations
  • Diagnose equipment and process problems
  • Qualify for use of cardox discharging safely and efficiently as required
  • General knowledge of cement making process
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Good oral/written communication skills
  • Operate mobile equipment
  • Health & Safety:
    • Comply with OHSA and all of its applicable regulations
    • Personal Protective equipment as prescribed
    • Comply with CRH safety rules, policies and procedures
    • Report all incidents and near misses
    • Report all safety hazards
    • Follow Lockout/Tag out procedures
    • Emergency response plan awareness
    • Port security awareness
  • Environment & Quality:
    • ISO 9001 and 14001 compliance
    • Report environmental and safety concerns (dust, emissions, spills)

 

What to expect in a cement environment:

 

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height and in confined spaces. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure. Effortless mobility through production side of plant. Physical ability to perform duties.
