Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


•    Provide leadership consistent with the CRH Canada’s Leadership Competency Model
•    Promote Safety Culture and Ensure compliance under legislation and Corporate requirements  
•    Manage daily Production meetings and daily priority setting meetings with Maintenance
•    Vacation & Absenteeism management, and organizes payroll information for all supervised Production employees
•    Shutdown planning and refractory management
•    Production rep. for mtc planning and Production/ maintenance Liaison
•    Ensure Incident reports investigation and completion
•    Operational optimization. Provide leadership and technical expertise on process related issues
•    Participate in the annual budgeting process. Manage “Production Costs” (OT, grinding aids / refractory etc)
•    Housekeeping Planning
•    Production planning. Production Improvement including data collection and Analysis
•    Act as a liaison with Logistics and Quality Departments
•    Manage  IPT and Yard supervisor
•    Provide Supervisor coverage if necessary during emergencies. Provide “On Call” support
•    Employee development and training, builds bench strength within the organization. Determine Training needs for supervisors and hourly employees (Plume, FPE, Safety etc)
•    Union Management and to deal with Grievances and discipline issues
•    Write up Procedures, risk assessment + ISO management
•    Ensure compliance with environmental requirements
•    Manage Walk By Inspections and downtime notifications 
•    Assist Production Manager to ensure that production department achieves its KPI’s
•    To perform such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Production Manager

 

Qualifications 

 

Education/Experience


•    University Degree in Engineering, with a strong technical background or equivalent working experience
•    At least 5 years of experience working within a cement plant or process industry or heavy industrial manufacturing environment and managing people in a unionized environment

•    Occupational Health and Safety knowledge  
•    Must have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
•    Budgeting and budget tracking
•    Ability to multi-task and prioritize numerous obligations.
•    Strong decision-making skills, having exercised discretionary authority
•    Knowledge of maintenance and mechanical related terms and procedures
•    Specific knowledge regarding the overall functioning of a cement plant
•    Proficient computer skills, including email and applications such as SAP and Excel
•    Focuses on appropriate details, so work gets done accurately; Acts resourcefully to ensure that work is completed within specified time and quality parameters 
•    Acts independently and with self-reliance; takes the initiative to resolve difficult issues and problems when they arise.  Works with others or gathers their input to enhance work processes or structures
