Position Overview
Directs, coordinates and is responsible for the planning, organization control, integration and completion of a construction project within a local company. May have responsibility for more than one project at a time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible to be a job site manager, creating, managing progress to a project work schedule
- Coordinate project subcontractors
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders including the representative from the Department of Transportation and their hired project management consultant
- Initiate and maintain liaison Owner, Prime Contractor, or Subcontractor, to facilitate construction activities.
- Monitor/control construction with on-site Superintendent to ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
- Monitor overall safety of employees on the project and MOT
- Manage, coordinate and delivery of materials, trucking, and subcontractor work
- Represent the company in project meetings; assist in planning meetings, etc.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by Operations Manager.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Construction Management Degree or equivalent
Work Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction management required
- Must have experience managing a major civil highway construction project in the field and subcontract items.
- Experience using scheduling tools required
- Personnel management and cost management experience will be required
- Must have good communication skills.
- Work hours will be extended. Most of the work will be done during daytime, but there will be some nighttime work that will require some assistance and oversight from a project manager.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities vital.
- Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential
- Business Acumen; Decision Quality; Managing and Measuring Work; Drive for Results
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- ALDOT traffic control/safety standards knowledge preferred

- May require exposure to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
