Position Overview

Mid to upper level supervisory position that oversees projects and management that in turn oversee the day to day completion of projects.  This position has oversight of the forepersons that direct crews toward the completion of construction projects.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Reports to Construction Operations Manager
  • Is responsible for the implementation of environmental, health and safety regulations/ policies/ laws.
  • Responsible for ensuring Risk Assessments, T5s, and Task Training are completed daily.

 

  • Responsible for all sub-contractor safety, compliance and performance on company projects.
  • Directs activities of crews involved with construction of roads, concrete and utility work, and other construction projects.  May include multiple projects at one time.

 

  • Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on the knowledge of tools, materials, equipment, and various construction methods.

 

  • Holds progress meetings as necessary with required personnel, including project “kickoff” meeting.
  • Oversees procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to complete projects.
  • Discusses with and directs supervisory personnel (foremen) and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work specifications and procedures to keep to schedules.

 

  • Works with supervisory personnel, labor representatives, and human resources to resolve complaints and grievances in the workforce.

 

  • Responsible for driving performance and career development by ensuring quality performance reviews and career discussions occur on a timely basis within your command structure.

  • Works with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers to resolve construction issues and improve procedures.

 

  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and schedules to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.

 

  • Works with Internal and External Customers to resolve construction issues and improve procedures.

 

  • Prepares or receives from subordinates, reports of progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.

 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

  • Be knowledgeable of materials and equipment needed to perform tasks.

 

  • Be able to read plans and specifications

 

  • Mathematical understanding in order to calculate grades, slopes, dumps, etc.

 

  • Related experience in construction field working with earthwork, concrete and utility, minimum 5 years (desired)

 

Work Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. 

 

  • Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical. 

 

  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document. 

 

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times. 

 

  • Report to work at the designated start time. 

 

  • Be able to work long hours when required. 

 

  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. 

 

  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

 

  • Must be able to complete safe driver training, possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

 

  • May be required to have or acquire a CDL as necessary

 

  • Be at least age 18 years of age. 

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications with the ability to learn new software systems as needed.

 

  • Be able to communicate appropriately with direct reports, co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.

 

  • Ability to use decision making skills for cost effective solutions on projects.

Work Environment

  • Significant portion of work will be performed outside in conditions that may be extreme in temperature and condition.
