POSITION OVERVIEW
Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for an experienced CDL Driver in our Construction Division for project specific work. As a CDL driver (Crash Truck), the selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. Our core values are safety, quality and integrity in everything we do. All Tilcon Connecticut employees are expected to partner with associates and management of Tilcon Connecticut Inc. to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety process. The truck driver will report directly to the Project Supervisor and will comply with mandatory safety.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Main responsibilities is operating a crash truck to set /remove sign pattern in a safe manner.
- May be required to move and fill a water truck and drive a triaxle dump truck for multiple operations on a as need basis.
- May be required to drive the traffic control truck when setting & picking up pattern,
- When working with co-workers, constant eye contact will be maintained when backing, communicating
- using hand signals or other movements.
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Follow direction of foreperson with regard to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
- Perform daily pre–and–post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
- Willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Report to work at the designated start time and stay through end of shift.
- Be able to work overtime when required.
- Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
- Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Required
Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical
Desired
- Loading & hauling
- Crash Truck experience
- Driving traffic control truck while setting up/taking down traffic control patterns for roadway work zones
- Driving water truck (filling with water & then filling milling machine with water)
- Heavy/highway construction experience
- Class A CDL preferred with Tanker Endorsement
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Hardhat, safety glasses, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, safety vest/high visibility clothing for any work in the field.
