Position Overview
This position offers a diverse set of responsibilities and will work alongside senior management on various projects. The position is based out of Newington, CT and will report to the Vice President of Finance and Accounting. The position will lead an Accounting team that supports multiple lines of business.
The candidate must be a skilled financial professional who understands business, operations, and financial processes; has the ability to integrate finance and operations; and can collaborate with operational leadership. Core behavioral characteristics sought include being a partner to business managers, implementing analytical decision-making in the business, and proactively finding opportunities and recommending ideas for increased profitability. Must possess leadership qualities and demonstrate success in developing talent, treating others with respect, setting a positive tone, and demonstrating patience and calmness when handling adversity.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Recommend, lead and/or assist with new efforts to improve operational and financial performance.
- Work with operations on financial analysis, CAPEX requests, annual budgets, monthly forecasts, strategic plan, etc.
- Lead and develop accounting staff while maintaining good working relations with managers from the business.
- Ensure adequate controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets of the company. This includes SOX controls and company accounting policies and procedures.
- Conduct analysis/review of P&L accounts to support the month end process along with cost analysis and evaluation.
- Lead accurate and timely month-end close and financial reporting processes.
- Prepare/review balance sheet accounts to confirm proper reconciliation and supporting backup.
- Work on ad hoc projects as directed.
- Work with the company’s leadership team to execute decision making with an emphasis on performance improvement.
- Assist in development and execution of the five-year strategic plan utilizing market-driven data for commercial and residential markets.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience; CMA, CPA, or MBA preferred
- 7-10 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years of relevant experience leading Finance teams
- Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant
- Proven ability to develop talent within the Finance function
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
