We are currently seeking an Aggregate Service Foreperson to support the efficient functioning of the North Branford Quarry and other aggregate sites for Tilcon Connecticut.  This role will provide service supervision and coordination of repair and maintenance of production equipment.  As an Aggregate Service Foreperson, the selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with employees, co-workers and management of Tilcon Connecticut Inc. to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety processes.  The Aggregate Service Foreperson will report directly to the superintendent and will comply with safety requirements and other functions of the Company.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential functions satisfactorily:

 

  • Ensures the safety of crew members
  • Trains crew members
  • Oversees aggregate operation service needs to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment
  • Supervises and coordinates crew activities, reviews preventative maintenance schedules and estimates work requirements for completion of reactive repairs within time constraints
  • Maintains time and materials records necessary for maintenance
  • Assures compliance with all company and safety policies and procedures
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality and crew performance
  • Mechanical ability

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times
  • Willing to travel and work away from home when required
  • Report to work at the designated start time and stay through end of shift
  • Be able to work overtime when required
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and /or MSHA and lead by example
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

 

Education/Experiences

  • Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MSHA regulations.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently, and to direct employees effectively

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Aggregate Operation Background (Crushing, Screening, Plant Operation & Automation, Washing Principals, Mobile Equipment Knowledge)
  • Motivated team player with customer service orientation
  • High level of integrity and strong work ethic
  • Positive attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines
