Position: Human Resources Summer Student

Location: Oakville, ON
Placement Term: 4 months

Expected Start Date: May 2024

 

Summary:

Responsible for the day-to-day administration of Human Resources (“HR”) services including supporting staffing, recruitment, and training administrative processes; providing administrative support to the HR team; maintaining departmental records.

 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Assist with the administration of the staffing process, which may include, preparing new hire packages, conducting new hire orientation and exit interview processes.
  • Maintain timely and accurate employee information.
  • Communication with third parties to support staffing levels through promoting opportunities and collaborating with schools.
  • Provide administrative support and coordination for the HR team, including confidential correspondence.
  • Maintain employee and departmental files and record keeping systems including electronic files, scanning, records retention, follow-ups, and confidential files.
  • Coordinate and support employee related events.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of various HR projects and assignments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant Human Resource Management program, or equivalent.
  • A co-op placement to graduate from his/her current program of enrolment is an asset.
  • General knowledge of HR practices, including completion of post-secondary HR coursework is required.
  • Understanding of the high degree of confidentiality required in a human resource role.
  • Proven computer skills, with emphasis on the Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Adobe.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and listening with a focus on high level customer service.
  • Highly organized, ability to multitask, with strong attention to detail and time management.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and follow instructions provided in order to meet timelines. 

 

Working Conditions/ Physical Effort:

  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Primary work location is Dufferin Construction Head Office
