Position Overview

Manages a team of talented staff including technicians and administrative staff, has a complete understanding of  P&L financial performance along with a full fleet of key and non-key equipment in alignment with corporate objectives.  Focuses on supporting the operation to ensure growth in the market.  Maintains and grows positive, customer-centric relationships within and outside the organization.  Remains a key business partner within the operation.  Effectively communicates, prioritizes and tactically manages all situations regardless of difficulty.

 

 Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. 

  • Continually focuses on achieving market profitability through effective management of all equipment and maintenance activities within the assigned area, including cost control, employee development, and high training and safety standards.
  • Ensures safe and reliable assets are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Manages effective utilization of vehicle assets.
  • Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
  • Ensures maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
  • Ensures vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
  • Complies with and ensures adherence to all safety standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Meets all financial review dates, report submissions and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.   
  • Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic operational meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.  Provides positive training and presentations upon request.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees. This includes:

  • Direct/Indirect supervision of full-time employees that include mechanic/technicians, shop managers and shop support personnel.        

 

 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
  •  At least 5 years of relevant work experience in addition to education.  Experience must be in shop supervision and customer service

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • AEMP Certified Equipment Manager, preferred

 

 

Language/Communication Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write correspondence precisely.  Ability to effectively present information in one on one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
