Position Overview

This position is responsible for managing the purchasing department at Lyman-Richey Corporation. 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Lead and coordinate the activities of the purchasing department.
  • Manage personnel in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable employment laws.  This includes training and mentoring employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding employees, disciplining employees, long-term personnel development and succession planning, as well as addressing complaints and resolving issues.
  • Facilitate the process of obtaining quotes/bids/RFx from potential suppliers.
  • Assist with invoice/payment related questions, working with AP to promote a seamless P2P process.  
  • Utilize metrics and data from multiple systems to determine and improve efficiency, provide guidance to the team, troubleshoot issues, monitor P-card purchases, and manage PO lifecycle.
  • Regularly attend operational meetings, drive adoption of sourced programs to maximize value to the company and increase savings benefits.
  • Collaborate with regional Purchasing Managers on best practices.
  • Resolve system discrepancies.
  • Provide category updates to regional team members.
  • Communicate with Director, purchasing team, category leads, and other management about programs and projects.
  • Work with requestors to clarify specifications and establish source alternatives.
  • Special projects and capex purchases.
  • Review new supplier requests.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and/or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the use of the Internet.
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Report to the office dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Understanding of procurement’s impact on financial results.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach; work well in a team. 
  • Ability to summarize data from different sources into a concise format that can be easily expanded and communicated to support initiatives.
