Position Overview


The compensation and HRIS manager analyzes and administer compensation programs and maintains HR-related systems. Responsible for the day-to-day operational activities of Compensation and HRIS such as data analysis, program administration, configuration and testing of HR systems, and process improvement plans. Ensures compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations. Implements and trains all locations on HR systems and processes. The manager maintains job descriptions and classification systems used for job evaluations and reporting. Implements and monitors affirmative action programs. This position also manages the company wide relocation program to ensure a smooth transition to the new location. 


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures, recommending plan revisions as well as new plans that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives. Provides advice to staff on pay decisions, policy/guideline interpretation, and job evaluations.
  • Works with HR team members to identify appropriate processes and workflow in HRIS. Responsible for training HR staff and ensures processes align with current and future workforce needs.
  • Manages the administration of compensation for employees, including the processing, recording and reporting of compensation-related actions related to all employees.
  • Uses an understanding of system set-up, interdependencies, and data flows to track data, system, and interface issues; coordinate issue resolution with software vendor or internal team members in timely manner; test and implement resolutions.
  • Provides support to HR team members with HR systems including problem resolution, reporting, and procedure support.
  • Prepares detailed job descriptions and classification systems along with defining job levels and families, in partnership with other managers.
  • Implements and monitors affirmative action programs that promote diversity within the company. Responsible for developing training, procedures, and initiatives to create and foster an open and inclusive environment.
  • Administers annual merit and short-term incentive plans, participants and awards to ensure proper accruals, calculations and communications.
  • Participates in, conducts and/or purchases exempt and nonexempt salary surveys to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff relating to HR systems and compensation.
  • Provides annual reporting to comply with CRH sustainability reports. 
  • Keeps apprised of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance. Maintains awareness by attending professional association meetings and seminars. Reads journals and magazines concerning human resource management issues, especially those regarding compensation and employment practices.
  • Administers Ash Grove's annual scholarship program in conjunction with a third party vendor.

  • Extensive knowledge of job analysis, job description, job evaluation, performance-based incentive programs, motivation and goal setting theories, and other aspects of compensation. 




  • 7 or more years of experience in design and administration of compensation programs. 
  • Experience in HRIS 


Licenses and Certifications


  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP (Preferred)
  • Other PHR or SPHR (Preferred)




  • Bachelor's Degree human resource management, management, business administration or related area of concentration. 
  • Other CCP (Preferred)
