Position Overview

As part of the global diversified building materials group, CRH, ICON Materials is currently recruiting for the position of Plant Controller within the Northwest Region based in Pacific, WA. The position will report to the General Manager with a strong dotted-line relationship to the Region CFO. In this role, you’ll be responsible for plant and operational accounting, including financial plans and policies, accounting practices, maintenance of fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports.


The successful candidate will have a strong background in plant or operational accounting, be highly organized and motivated, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position will allow you to gain a comprehensive understanding of the processes underlying the production of financial and management supporting information for a public company. You will actively participate in your professional development within the role and department, and play an integral part as we work together to build our communities.


Compensation: Up to $125k/year DOE w/ 15% annual bonus.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Oversee and participate in monthly financial reporting, consolidation process, and variance analysis; including financial statement preparation and review as well as management reporting and analysis, and balance sheet account reconciliation.
  • Maintain strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets and employees, ensuring compliance with SOX and other control processes and appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with CRH Americas Materials and Northwest Region accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee equipment accounting, reporting and related analytics, and capex preparation, reporting, and oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with tax rules/regulations and timely/accurate tax reporting for sales/use, real/personal property, fuel, and asset licensing.
  • Partner with management to provide analytical support for improving financial performance, working capital management and key initiative achievement.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the five-year strategic plan utilizing market-driven data for commercial and residential markets.
  • Lead and manage accounting staff for assigned operational areas, providing oversight and direction as needed, including hands-on assistance as appropriate.
  • Lead and/or assist in preparation of local and regional budget and forecasting processes.
  • Prepare various Regional and Divisional reports as required.
  • Liaising with external and internal auditors.
  • Develop, mentor and lead accounting staff to further their development and strengthen the finance organization.
  • Foster a success-oriented, continuous improvement environment within the organization.
  • Observe safety standards and maintain safe work environment.
  • Observe confidentiality of company information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related required; CMA, CPA, or MBA a plus.


Work Requirements

  • Strong financial background essential.
  • 3 – 5 years of progressive financial accounting experience working with all aspects of financial accounting and cash flow management. Plant or Operational Accounting preferred.
  • Management experience a plus.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of reporting processes and confidence in preparing financial reports along with the evaluation of major capital expenditure projects and acquisitions.
