Field Supervisor -Grade & Drain / Foreman Position Overview

The Field Supervisor/Foreman is responsible managing daily crew operations and job site activities.  This position will primarily perform supervisory duties, but on rare occasions may assist with general laborer and equipment operation tasks as needed

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Coordinates daily job site activities, job site organization, etc.
  • Examine and interpret plans and specifications to determine work processes and successful completion.
  • Supervise and schedule work crews to engage in heavy highway construction, and construction specific to utility, grade & drain and concrete operations.
  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment of various types.
  • Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Manage job site goals, timelines and budgets with the construction manager.
  • Order required supplies and materials.
  • Drive to various job site locations.
  • Assists with general laborer duties as needed, which may include shoveling, concrete forming and pouring, installing pipes, installing drainage structures, and other tasks as required.
  • Assists with heavy equipment operation, if trained, as needed at job site locations.
  • Maintaining labor, equipment, and materials records
  • Will be subject to drug testing per company policy.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred and 2 to 5 years of related construction experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. 

Work Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Must meet the requirements to drive a company vehicle.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
  • Ability to write correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
