Position Overview

This position is responsible to coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within and between the construction division and the administrative division according to production schedule.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Examine documents, plans, materials, or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specification
  • Review documents/plans, such as work-orders, contract/bids, cost projections, etc to determine material requirements and material priorities
  • Confer with department supervisors/foremen to assess progress and discuss the needed changes
  • Revise production/construction schedules and cost projections when required due to design changes, labor or material backlogs or other interruptions, collaborating with management , sales, production or engineering
  • Confer with establishment personnel, vendors, or customer to coordinate production/construction or shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays
  • Record production/construction, equipment and fuel data electronically
  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production/construction demands
  • Calculate figures, such as, required amounts of material and/or labor, construction cost, equipment usage, fuel and other costs per job/contract
  • Distribute production/construction work orders, status updates, material cost etc so that reports can be generated
  • Occasional off-site visit to a job to support engineered concrete pour statistics, data gathering and report generation
  • The position will also be responsible for implementing new initiatives for the A.L. Blades construction division
  • All other duties as assigned by manager
  • Includes daytime, plus evening and weekend phone calls from time to time.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

Required

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

Preferred

  • 2 year degree in Engineering or Accounting. Or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with procurement tools, processes and systems preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in mining, construction or manufacturing preferred, but not required.
  • High level of proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Work Requirements

  • Must possess a valid State driver’s license
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Have engineering and construction
  • Be able to interact with vendors, construction employees, and different levels of management
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must have strong data entry skills and be proficient in Outlook.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness.
  • Capable of utilizing the internet effectively for research and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High standard of ethics, integrity, and trust.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures outlined in Employee Handbook. 
  • Must display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors and general public at all times.  
  • Cleanliness & neatness of all equipment, tools, desks, & computers is a must at all times.
  • Be able to work independently, safely, have strong organization skills, and have a strong work ethic
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.

This job will require both office work and field work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment in the office is usually quiet.
