LEAD QUARRY SCALE OPERATOR
Position Overview:
The Lead Quarry Scale Operator will support the Scalehouse Supervisor with daily operational tasks within all scale houses in NY and NJ, including but not limited to training new scale operators, creating a playbook of best practices, running end-of-day reports, and fielding scale operator inquires. This person will be a highly motived self-starter, with the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The Lead Quarry Scale Operator will earn the Weigh Master’s certifications for NY and NJ and provide coverage for the scales as needed.
Roles and Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Formally and visibly demonstrate support and understanding of CRH and Tilcon NY’s core values.
- Work safely, complying with all safety regulations and Tilcon environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
- Work in the scalehouse as needed. Must have the ability to accurately dispatch trucks, collect FOB customer information and verify the material, truck number and destination of material are accurate for Tilcon delivered orders. Verify that tickets are signed. Update empty weights of trucks and have knowledge of rules and regulations. Produce end of day reports as directed.
- Have knowledge of state weights and measures laws.
- Assist the Scale house Supervisor in scheduling vendor visits, scheduling maintenance and ordering supplies.
- Must be able to solve problems as they are presented via phone and emails.
- Communicate both orally and in written form with middle and upper management across all departments.
- Evaluate procedures and practices to improve efficiencies.
- Assist with customer inquiries and services.
- Streamline a standard for reporting, maintaining, and filing required reports and paperwork. Report to Supervisor daily.
- The ability to work well with others and assist the Scalehouse Supervisor in training scale house personnel in all facets of their job responsibilities, including the creation of a training manual and reference book.
- Ensure daily tasks at scales are being completed on time and accurately.
- Must be available for flexible working hours in all Tilcon NY locations: Wharton, NJ, Pompton Lakes, NJ, Riverdale, NJ, Kearny, NJ, North Bergen, NJ, Poughkeepsie, NY, West Nyack, NY, Haverstraw NY, Goshen, NY.
- Assist other departments and perform related duties as requested or assigned.
- Regular and timely attendance is required. Must be available for extended hours and occasional nights and weekends.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- High School or its equivalent.
- Supervisor experience or experience in directing a team in a professional manner.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- State Certified Weighmaster License (upon completion of training)
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office). Some minor trouble shooting.
- Experience in customer service and end of day reconciliation.
Preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish)
- Familiarity with basic routes in Southern, Northern & Central NJ and New York

- Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other personnel.
- Ability to evaluate questions or problems effectively, seeking assistance when needed.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Work Requirements
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Ability to work scheduled overtime and weekends and occasional night shifts.
• Available for emergency overtime when the need arises. This may include occasional weekend hours.
• Ability to travel to various job sites several times a week.
