Position Overview


The Dispatcher performs functions relating to the fulfillment of bulk product needed at our ready-mix plants including but not limited to receiving product delivery requests, scheduling bulk tanker trucks, scheduling haul vendors and coordinating with appropriate personnel on equipment transport.  The Dispatcher must have an exceptional relationship with all key stakeholders including internal customers, haul vendors, plant managers, ready-mix dispatch and plant operators at all opco’s.  The Dispatcher needs to be familiar with the plant locations and travel times from terminals.  Needs to be familiar with different truck capabilities, plant loading capacities/capabilities, and what products are carried at the various plants by utilizing sourcing procedures and documents.

 

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Exceptional communication with internal and external customers and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Monitor plant inventories.
  • Monitor upcoming ready-mix schedules.
  • Utilization of plant score cards. 
  • Liaison between key stakeholders fostering consistent teamwork (Dispatchers, Batch personnel, Operations, Transportation and Haulers)
  • Schedule cement tankers daily.
  • Schedule equipment moves as needed.
  • Create and maintain a schedule of loads, haulers, and plants to Track and Analyze company demands with plant and hauler capacities.
  • Utilize hired haulers by building and maintaining an exceptional business relationship.
    • Truck Availability
    • Short Term/Long Term commitments to long term jobs
    • Manage and document performance
  • Must be aware of special jobsite conditions that require specific trucks, spacing, etc.  
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 
  • Minimum two years direct customer service/dispatch experience highly preferred.

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Must have the ability to work without close supervision.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.
  • Demonstrated, effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels thru teamwork.
  • Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to computers, copiers, printers, etc.
  • Proficiency in personal computers/word processing, spreadsheets/databases, and relevant software packages.
  • Ability to accurately schedule trucks for foremen’s daily use.
  • Ability to analyze issues independently.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
