Position Overview

Supports the plants through the timely procurement of quality materials. Executes procurement strategies that ensure supply and optimize total cost of ownership for the business.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Work with requestors to clarify specifications, establish source alternatives, increase standardization, and otherwise increase value related to an order
  • Understand the local supply chain (manufacturing, distribution, delivery, use, service, and disposal) related to the products and services being purchased
  • Prepare and submit purchase orders which accurately capture the business requirements and leverage existing programs while ensuring on-time delivery
  • Manage and resolve invoice and receipt discrepancies
  • Drive adoption of sourced programs to maximize value to the company
  • Monitor and assess the adoption of national/preferred programs to ensure alignment with the development of preferred supplier relationships
  • Identify gaps, conflicts, and barriers that effect programs and share with leadership
  • Work with suppliers and sourcing to ensure accurate product information is relayed on orders including pricing, availability, part numbers and delivery
  • Arrange for the proper transportation of the purchased products if needed
  • Monitor and research order history of similar products / services to evaluate and track differences in costs, delivery, quality, and performance
  • Support efforts to identify and evaluate new or alternative suppliers
  • Ensure suppliers / sub-contractors are compliant with required insurance documentation
  • Maintain ethical relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
  • Collaborate and negotiate with suppliers
  • Ensure all activities within the procurement process are followed in accordance with procurement best practice policies and procedures

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • Associates degree preferred
  • 2 years in purchasing preferred
  • Experience with procurement tools, processes and systems preferred

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines

 

General Requirements 

  • Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations
  • Travel may be required
