What You Will Do

As a Purchasing Agent, you will be a key resource for facilitating the effective ordering of products and services and for ensuring that supply commitments and business needs are met for 12 operating companies throughout WA, OR, ID, MT & CA.

  •  Evaluate suppliers and manage interactions to maintain a steady flow of products and services within local operations.
  •  Work closely with all departments to understand and fulfill their supply needs.
  • Efficiently generate and place orders for a wide range of items, from equipment and plant parts to office supplies and building services, ensuring seamless business operations.

Wage: Starting at $28 + /hr DOE w/ potential for overtime.

 

Location: This is an in-person position located in Salem, OR, with the potential to work up to 1 day remotely following an initial training period.

 

Shift: Primarily work Monday  Friday 8 hours/day, starting between 6am – 8am.

 

What You Can Do (Qualifications)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1 + years’ experience supporting purchasing/procurement functions, including a familiarity with supporting the purchase order process.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with customers – both internal and external.
  • Strong organizational skills, enabling you to manage multiple priorities efficiently while delivering quality end results within the expected timeframe.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with a knack for persuading others and advocating for new ideas.
  • Basic PC & Microsoft 365 knowledge, and the ability to use the internet for research and evaluation.
  • Be action-oriented, able to independently prioritize, and have a drive for results.
  • A high school diploma, current authorization to work in the United States, and pass pre-employment controlled-substance testing.

 

Work Requirements:

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Work closely with operations, other purchasers, sourcing, and accounting staff to procure all types of materials and services required for company operations.
  • Prepare draft purchase orders and facilitate their approval within the system which accurately capture the business requirements and leverage existing programs and/or supplier relationships.
  • Track and maintain the procurement process of all materials and arrange for deliveries or transportation to the requestor.
  • Work with suppliers and Sourcing to ensure that accurate product/service information is communicated on orders including pricing, availability, part numbers and delivery.
  • Understand the local supply chain (manufacturing, distribution, delivery, use, service, and disposal) related to the products and services being purchased.
  • Facilitate the process of obtaining quotes and/or bids from potential suppliers.
  • Conduct research and support efforts to identify and evaluate new/alternative suppliers which meet the business requirements.
  • Track savings generated from purchaser negotiations.
  • Expedite and assist with the troubleshooting of orders as needed.
  • Place approved purchases with suppliers.
  • Place bids and ensure competitive pricing on all materials.
  • Observe confidentiality of company information; written and verbal, and company safety standards, maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
