Ready Mix Concrete Internship (May - August 2026) - San Antonio, TX

The Ready-Mix Concrete Operations Intern will work for approximately 10-12 weeks at Texas Materials Ready Mix, to integrate the education received from a college and/or university to the company’s objectives. The Intern will be exposed to a variety of departments and work environments during the internship. This will involve traveling to and between various plants in the Austin and San Antonio region

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

 

· Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and working towards an associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or other industry related degree program.

· Desired 3.0 GPA or higher.

· Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word and Excel

 

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

 

· Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Texas Materials

· Conduct daily safety assignments (area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA’s, TRACK, etc)

· Assist in day-to-day operations of the ready-mix concrete plant, including batching and mixing processes

· Engage with team members to identify opportunities for process improvements.

· Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

· Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other record and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs

· Other duties as assigned

 

Work Requirements

 

· Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

· Must pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.

· Must be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.

· Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.

· Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

· Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

· Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.

· Must be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the working environment.

· Candidates must possess a strong work ethic

· Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done

· Strong organizational skills and time management

· Effective oral and written communication skills

· Working knowledge of computers

· Be able to effectively carry out assigned duties in varying work environments and in different terrain (including various weather conditions)

· Flexible with work locations – must be able to travel/relocate for the work term

· Personal transportation required, valid driver license, we provide mileage reimbursement.
