Summary: 

 

Plans and coordinates maintenance activities conducted at the plant. Maintains plant assets in accordance with a proactive maintenance philosophy to achieve plant production, cost, quality, safety and environmental goals. Schedules maintenance jobs so as to maximize plant and or equipment efficiency and minimize downtime. Is an active member of the plant Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) team. Incumbent will utilize independent judgment in performing responsibilities. Works under general supervision with standard practices and guidelines. Refers to supervisor with unusual problems, circumstances and situations. Provides indirect supervision over maintenance crew members and direct supervision over specific contractors. Must be available for infrequent evening and weekend work. Works independently. May be required to assist with general maintenance supervision.

 

What you’ll be contributing: 

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates preventive maintenance, mechanical repair activities when new work requests are received. Obtains contractors when needed.
  • Ensures compliance to all safety standards and regulations. Conducts and/or attends department and plant safety meetings.
  • Plans modifications and improvements of plant equipment and structures to improve efficiency.
  • Provides technical assistance to maintenance crews as needed.
  • Maintains a maintenance department resource library. Provides equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints when needed.
  • Supports and complies with the plant MEP guidelines. Facilitates MEP process as requested by management.
  • Recommends repair parts that need to be stocked and works with the storeroom personnel to ensure appropriate levels are maintained.
  • Assists as needed in preparing budget for capital expenditures planned for maintenance projects and repairs.
  • Coordinates maintenance projects with other departments as needed.
  • Working from equipment manuals and online information, develops lubrication PM tasks.
  • Determines labor requirements for specific jobs. Works with skilled trade supervisors when necessary to determine the number of craftsmen and man-hour requirements for job planning.
  • Develops and maintains Standard Job Plans. Incorporate information from equipment manuals including written procedures and drawings. Includes planning requirements of spare parts, tools, mobile equipment and labor.
  • Maintains maintenance history of all plant equipment and keeps complete and updated list of plant equipment.
  • May record time and costs associated with each work order.
  • May record and process maintenance schedules and time sheets.
  • Coordinates, writes, reviews SOP's and JSA's related to department on a monthly basis.
  • Conducts, reviews and reports SAFE observations and area inspections as scheduled. 
  • Participates in and leads morning and afternoon scheduling meetings. Works with mechanical supervisors and assists with daily scheduling when needed.
  • Establishes position as a positive role model for plant safety, health and environmental issues and asserts "safety and environmental leadership" in all aspects of each daily routine.
  • Performs other job related duties as needed such as performing backup for maintenance supervisors during vacations or other absences. 
  • Prepares various reports as requested. 
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need: 

 

  • Associate's Degree or technical school in related area is required. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar maintenance role. Preferred to be in a cement or related industrial plant. 
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. 
  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Project demonstrated project management skills
  • Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of speciality
  • Technical knowledge of maintenance and repair required by plant equipment and structures. 
  • Working knowledge of conveyors, dust collectors, fans, hydraulic systems, and gear boxes and mechanical transmission systems.
  • Posesses a working knowledge of government regulations such as EPA and MSHA as they relate to maintenance and repair projects.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints. 
 

 

Compensation 

 

  • Base Salary $75,600-$118,000

  • Eligible for yearly bonus 

  • Potential for Geographic Differential
