What You Will Do…

As an Accounting Manager, you will:

  • Oversee the accounting lifecycle for fixed assets and equipment across 12 operating companies in WA, OR, ID, MT and CA.

  • Partner with key operations stakeholders to provide insights and recommendations based on your analysis of fixed asset trends.

  • Play a crucial role in capital expenditure planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning cycles.

  • Support, mentor, and manage a team of two Accounting Specialists.

What You Can Do (Qualifications)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

  • 4+ years of transactional accounting experience, including knowledge of accounting policies and procedures for US GAAP

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience with the ability to motivate and coach others, delegate tasks, build teams, and manage conflicts

  • Excellent business writing skills related to capital proposals or funds requests

  • Advanced Excel skills including the ability to manipulate large data sets to extract relevant information into a digestible format for various audiences using features such as queries, pivot tables, linking formulas, and other complex and nested formulas

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite and prior experience working with accounting software systems

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including building rapport, active listening, presenting, and giving/receiving feedback

  • High standards of ethics, integrity, and trust, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, being detail and action-oriented with excellent organizational skills and a drive for results

  • Self-motivated and able to operate under general guidelines without micromanagement

  • Willingness to travel to site locations occasionally

  • Current authorization to work in the United States and the ability to pass pre-employment controlled-substance testing

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the construction and/or manufacturing industry

  • Experience working for a publicly traded company in an accounting capacity

  • External source Excel data query experience

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Supervise, mentor, and monitor attendance for accounting specialists, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.

  • Oversee the fixed asset accounting lifecycle and related tasks performed by accounting specialists.

  • Perform financial analysis of data and prepare monthly ad-hoc reporting for senior management review, providing actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist with the forecast and budget of depreciation and capital projects.

  • Assist in the development of the five-year strategic plan, aligning financial goals with company objectives.

  • Review and account for leased land, mineral reserves, and equipment contracts.

  • Monitor fuel inventory balance sheet accounts, maintaining accurate records and reporting.

  • Ensure the assigned daily operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies, and objectives.

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues across operations and accounting departments to ensure accurate information is received and issues are resolved in a timely manner.

  • Strict adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley and company policies.

  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
