What You’ll Do
- Respond to customer inquiries by phone with professionalism, positivity, and a solutions-oriented approach.
- Process detailed and accurate orders, providing guidance on product availability, plant locations, and delivery schedules.
- Assist drivers with navigating delivery areas and identifying optimal routes to job sites.
- Develop strong relationships with customers, foremen, and internal teams to ensure seamless service and repeat business.
- Monitor inventory and materials at various plants and worksites, coordinating with the construction division to meet project needs.
- Track and review driver timecards and service hours, supporting compliance and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate driver schedules, random drug tests, and DOT physicals as needed.
- Support hiring efforts by screening applicants and participating in driver meetings to foster communication and engagement.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule equipment repairs and with payroll to ensure accurate timekeeping.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and flexibility to meet business needs, including occasional nights and weekends.
Your Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; AA degree or college coursework preferred.
- At least 2-4 years’ experience in a dispatching or logistics environment, preferably related to construction materials.
- Valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and able to pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.
What You Bring
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport at all levels—from customers and drivers to management and support staff.
- Proficiency with computers, office equipment, and relevant software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
- Familiarity with truck and plant capacities, inventory management, and the nuances of asphalt, paving, construction, and related products.
- Strong critical thinking skills—able to analyze issues and make decisions independently under pressure.
- Dedication to safety, teamwork, and maintaining a consistent work schedule.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Fast-paced office setting, sometimes requiring multitasking and quick decision-making.
- Regularly uses hands, sits for extended periods, and communicates clearly (in person and via phone).
- Occasional standing, walking, and light physical activity.
- May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
