Pay: $30 an hour.
Position Overview and Key Responsibilities
The Professional Driver / Trainer is a safety sensitive position who reports to the Driver Supervisor and will be responsible to work closely with the SMG Management Team to build, document, maintain and update SMG’s training program while continuing to perform Professional Driving duties. In addition, the Professional Driver / Trainer will be responsible to improve SMG’s delivery efficiency through:
- One-on-one training with both new hires as well as seasoned employees
- Must be proficient and share skills on how to handle and maneuver loaded and empty ready-mix trucks
- Must be knowledgeable and train using proper hand signals backing or maneuvering on a jobsite.
- Must be knowledgeable with controls and purpose of their use on ready mix trucks of different styles (automatic/manual transmission)
- Must be knowledgeable in loading and unloading material on the jobsite.
- Must be knowledgeable of material or weather effects of ready-mix material product such as
- Slump, ice, water, add mixes etc.
- Must be able to conduct pre-and post-trip independently without assistance
- Knowledgeable using company equipment and programs such as tablet, i.e., status, E-Ticketing, Whip Around, etc.
- Must attend and lead quarterly group training meetings
- Must be able to train and release trainee to competent full-time driver after 30 continuous training days
- Must continue to mentor trainee for 30/60/90 check ins after full release to full time driver status.
- Regular and on time scheduled attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of RMC truck driving experience
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License
- Without an E restriction (Prohibits operating a truck with a manual transmission)
- Must have the NRMCA professional driver certification
- No more than 1 recordable accidents within the last 12 months
- ACI field certified or become certified within 12 months of accepting the position highly encouraged
Skill Requirements
- Strong leadership.
- Strong communication, listening, and social skills.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as a tablet, ipad, computer, smart phone, etc.
- Ability to read maps, gps, and well written instructions via mobile or tablet instructions
