SUMMARY

Oils and greases moving parts of friction surfaces of mechanical equipment such as shaft and motor bearings, sprockets, drive chains, gears and pulleys by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned

 

Maintains proper fluid levels in all equipment.

Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.

Maintains fuel and oil inventory.

Makes minor repairs on equipment.

Performs a pre-shift inspection of grease truck.

Never operates unsafe equipment.

Maintains a clean work area.

Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of preventative maintenance schedules and inspections, including tires.  Knowledge and use of oil types and uses in all equipment.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE  SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.   

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
