Oldcastle Building Envelope has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join the Plant Engineering team at our Terrell facility.  We are currently expanding our operations along with modernizing our Extrusion operations, Paint Line and Warehousing.  We are looking for a motivated individual who wants the opportunity to make a positive impact on the operation and improve reliability throughout the plant.

 

Basic Function

 

The Project Engineer is responsible for developing proposed capital projects as well as working with existing operations to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices.

 

The Project Engineer will ensure proposed capital projects are developed within OBE’s electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and other engineering standards under the Project Team Lead to ensure the equipment harmonizes with other OBE work centers.  This includes engineering the equipment with the OEM to meet OBE standards.  The project engineer will be responsible for implementing the projects and facilitating the equipment hand off to maintenance and operations.

 

Projects can also include improving or updating existing equipment, operations and procedures.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related experience required
  • Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming & troubleshooting is a MUST
  • Strong computer skills - high level of proficiency with AutoCAD & MS Office – their related functions & application
  • Ability to read and develop controls, wiring, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams
  • Ability to plan and execute a successful project handoff to operations and plant maintenance while providing technical support for machines and equipment on an as-needed basis.  This includes facilitating the training of these groups and the associated support documentation developed with the OEM.
  • Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and conduct themselves professionally; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Will work with and directing with contractors at all levels during project planning and execution
  • Ability to think outside the box – innovative in daily responsibilities as well as project work
  • Ability to perform all other job duties as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of this job.
  • Six Sigma certification desirable
  • Team player and ability to relate to others

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Research and produce justification for capital projects
  • Develop and manage capital projects
  • Design/build equipment/systems for productivity improvements and cost reduction initiatives
  • Provide support for maintenance operations
  • Provide technical support for process improvements
  • Review existing processes, make recommendations to improve process flow and implement process improvement applying Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts
