Position Overview

 

The Transportation Manager will be responsible for management of the call center daily operations including but not limited to personnel management, CSR (Customer Service Representatives) training, product orders and delivery, monitoring telematics systems, DOT compliance and customer service. 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

  • Manage the CSR and delivery staff for transportation team including but not limited to scheduling and approving time, PTO requests, performance reviews, corrective action, training and development and hiring new employees. 
  • Communicate with the sales team and customers to ensure delivery of materials and equipment is accurate, on-time and as ordered.  This includes prioritizing orders to meet delivery needs.
  • Ensure excellent customer service from the CSR team and assist customers with questions regarding materials and delivery. 
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations as well as other applicable local, state and federal regulations.
  • Assist the sales and estimating teams with cost estimates.
  • Ensure telematics systems are functioning appropriately and champion systems throughout the company.  Assist with training employees on these systems.
  • Review daily invoice registers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 3-5 years of leadership/management and/or product knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) rules and regulations preferred but will train the right candidate. 
  • Must possess a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class A with Double and Triple Endorsements 
  • Must possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT standard
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills of end dumps and belly dumps (with and without pups) and related equipment to be operated.
  • Thorough operational knowledge of transporting equipment.
  • Can operate equipment safely and efficiently

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook.  Must be able to utilize internet effectively. 
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as delivery tickets, safety rules and procedure manuals as well as carry out written or verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrate basic mathematical skills as well as the ability to interpret and compute basic formulas.

  • Able to communicate with others by telephone, electronically and in person.
  • Able to utilize a computer for email communication and preparation of documents and spreadsheets.
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.

 

Work Environment

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
