Position Overview

In this role, you’ll drive a company truck (dump truck, mixer truck, tanker, low boy and/or sand train/belly dump) to job sites or company locations to deliver materials. Each day provides you with a different adventure as you work together with our teams to build our communities. Wage Scale for Position: $23.00 - $28.70 hr DOE w/ potential for overtime

Note: Wage scale for position is the full wage scale an individual can make based on performance, experience, and seniority throughout their time at the company.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operational order and report maintenance or repair issues.
• Be able to climb in and out of truck safely using 3-points of contact.
• Be able to manipulate truck steering wheel (power steering), shifter and other various levers and knobs necessary for operation of truck and associated equipment.
• Operate truck to deliver to construction sites as specified, in a safe and efficient manner, obeying applicable laws and following dispatch instructions.
• Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle, investigate abnormalities and perform operator maintenance and minor field repairs.
• Maintain communication with Dispatcher as necessary regarding deliveries, check delivery tickets for special instructions and complete as required.
• Complete report of problems or necessary repairs and forward to maintenance personnel, detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions.
• Maintain work area and vehicle in a clean and orderly condition.
• Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
• Regular and timely attendance.
• May perform other related duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a heavy equipment transport driver or similar role.
• Knowledge of how to load, secure and unload heavy equipment.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Physical stamina and strength to load & unload equipment
• Strong driving skills and the ability to operate heavy / large equipment
• A good understanding of the safety protocols and procedures related to the transportation of heavy equipment, ensuring the safety of themselves, the equipment, and the public.
• Excellent physical condition as the job often requires loading, unloading and securing heavy equipment.
• Good communication skills to effectively relay important information about delivery schedules, equipment condition & potential delays to relevant parties.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Two years minimum experience of transporting heavy or oversized equipment

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Current Class A CDL and current DOT medical card required.
• Use of machines, tools, equipment; dump truck, mixer truck, tanker, low boy and/or sand train/belly dump truck, broom, rake, hand tamp, water hose, shovel, hand tools, front end loader.
• Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate machine controls.
• Must pass DOT physical exam and pre-employment-controlled substance testing
• Safety sensitive: “Per RCW 49.44.240 this position has been identified by the employer as safety sensitive and will be subject to an employer-required pre-employment drug screening that includes testing for nonpsychoactive cannabis metabolites.”
• This role requires travel to various job sites & overnight stays may be required.
• While on the road, they are required to obey all traffic laws, and navigate through various traffic and weather conditions/
• Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance and attendance.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
• Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays.
• Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators and other employees.
• Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
• Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
• Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.
