Position Overview

Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Director, Category Manager will be responsible to drive and be accountable for category performance and initiatives in the CRH AMAT North Division. 

 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Perform strategic sourcing of categories (internal data analysis, cost analysis, supplier and market analysis); develop / identify new or alternative sources of supply to improve financial performance at the company level
  • Drive, develop and execute negotiation strategy with suppliers and negotiate complex agreements that involve significant coordination with large cross functional teams
  • Execute contracts that optimize benefits to the operating company and implement those contracts within business units
  • Manage the inbound supply chain of the categories and supplier performance on a structured basis
  • Develop and implement categories strategies in line with budget needs for concrete, construction and aggregates manufacturing operations; work with cross-functional teams composed of manufacturing, finance and others as required
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external markets and other consumers to understand trends and develop opportunities, including influencing public policy through industry groups.
  • Interfaces with all levels of company and division management to drive engagement and adoption of relevant procurement processes and/or programs at company level
  • Participate / support regional strategic sourcing teams
  • Provide regular reports & updates to team members & stakeholders as required
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements (Experience, Technical Expertise)

  • Minimum 5 years in strategic procurement role (category management, sourcing) with exposure to complex strategic sourcing and optimal procurement processes and standards
  • Demonstrated performance in working within cross-functional teams, with requisite drive and energy to ensure that a challenging benefits and capability building agenda is successfully delivered
  • Computer and analytical skills are essential SAP(preferred) , Ariba (preferred), Microsoft office
  • Bilingual (English and French) oral preferred

 

Education

  • University Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or any relevant field of expertise or equivalent experience

  • Expert negotiation skills
  • Ability to assess potential and risks associated with supplier and market changes, and integrate with category and sourcing strategies
