Position Overview

The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for the coordination, planning, scheduling, and execution of all maintenance and repair work at the assigned Quarry.  Collaborate in a manner that develops, directs, and motivates your team to expect a “ZERO” incident workplace; embrace continuous improvement to achieve World Class Performance; and delivers quality products and/or service that satisfies our customers.

 

Roles and Responsibilities 

(Essential Duties and Functions)

 

  • Continuously strive to promote safety and lead by example.
  • Strategic Planning- ensure the plant achieves maximum results while striving to reduce costs and improve safety. Develop maintenance plans, both predictive and preventative, that are forward looking and clearly communicated. 
  • Mechanical Knowledge-working knowledge of plant equipment, parts, sourcing, repair and maintenance.
  • Information Management-ability to disseminate information from multiple sources in order to build and execute maintenance plans.
  • Cost Control-ability to work with Purchasing team to budget, track and execute plans based on financial constraints.  Create and search for opportunities to reduce costs in maintenance process to improve STVC.
  • Ensure all parts are readily available when needed.
  • Meet with Plant Manager daily to review work order requests, downtime issues and report upcoming work.
  • Communicate with Foreman to review work completed, upcoming work and any issues they found during the various shifts.
  • Schedule the maintenance associates and resources of the operation to effectively meet the maintenance requirements of the site.
  • Administrate and follow-up on the execution of preventative maintenance activities.  Review oil sampling results.
  • Review PEAK data moth MTD and YTD to identify trends and generate opportunities to improve production.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

  • Overtime and weekend work required as necessary to meet company goals.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.

 

Marginal Duties and Functions

 

  • Performs required clerical functions, including employee payroll, safety and environmental records, operations data, inventory reports, production reports, safety talk documentation, makes callouts to fill rosters and make emergency repairs, creates work requests, etc.
  • Fill in for other plant supervisors in their absence. 
  • Work closely with the engineering team effectively to support production goals.
  • Develop contingency plans as necessary to meet customer expectations.

Qualifications 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

 

Education/Experience

Required

 

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 5 years+ of practical work experience.

Preferred

  • 5 years’ experience in an operations leadership role. 
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities. 
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint 

 

Work Requirements 

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Dust masks & Hearing Protection. 

Knowledge/Skill Requirqments

  • Working knowledge of English and Math, office practices and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of Crushers, Screens, Conveyors, Screws, and other aggregates processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of best practices with plant maintenance in the aggregate mining field. 
  • Ability to maintain records and files. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other personnel. 
  • Ability to carry out complex oral and written instructions and deal with complex problems. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with questions or problems, seeking assistance from internal and external sources when needed. 
  • Ability to give presentations to both associates and senior members of the organization explaining complex solutions to problems. 
  • Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
  • Perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
  • Make appropriate job decisions following standard policies and past precedents.
  • Recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate and timely actions.

This job will require both office work and field work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment in the office is usually quiet.
