Job Description


The Maintenance Manager will develop and direct the strategic and long-range goals of the organization including proposals for plant machinery and all physical aspects of the plant including service of electrical and mechanical systems, maintenance of production equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds.  All while maintaining and promoting a safe environment and complying with applicable policies and regulations.




  • Provides leadership and support of lean manufacturing initiatives to maximize asset utilization and plant performance.
  • Responsible for facility maintenance: HVAC, electrical distribution, production machines
    • Manages CMMS maintenance system for maximizing production uptime.
  • Provides prioritization, direction, and support of maintenance team leaders and technicians in performing breakdown, repair, and preventative maintenance on production equipment (electrical, electronic, mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic).
  • Plans and implements a schedule of routine and preventative maintenance procedures and assign and monitor personnel.
  • Observes mechanical devices and equipment to determine proper functioning and identifies root causes of malfunctions.
    • Provides and implements corrective actions to address.
  • Reports on effectiveness of maintenance resource utilization based on cost vs. budget, uptime, reactive vs. preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Works with operations to prioritize equipment/form repairs based on operational demand.
  • Implements process enhancements to increase equipment uptime, improve product quality, and reduce facility costs.
  • Leads equipment and process troubleshooting efforts.
  • Works with Plant Manager to develop budgets.
  • Selects, purchases, and manages inventory of all necessary maintenance parts and supplies – both expense and capital.
  • Collaborates with corporate engineering on capital projects (design and implementation, budget preparation) and process improvement projects.
  • Collaborates with other facilities on best practices.
  • Secures and manages outside contractor/vendor services as needs arise outside internal capabilities.
  • Hires, manages, and develops maintenance team, including shift schedules/coverage, coaching and discipline.
  • Interprets company policies and safety regulations to ensure compliance and safe work environment.
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanently based on business needs.


Requirements/Skills & Ability


  • Associates degree in engineering/maintenance-related field or equivalent in training, education or 8 + years of experience as maintenance manager, or equivalent combination of experience, training and education.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing/maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated experience hiring, developing, and training maintenance personnel.
    • 5+ years of experience supervising a maintenance team of 8-10 or more.
    • Experience with performance management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Superior leadership and management skills with a proven ability to coordinate employees, teams, and departments with different skills and backgrounds.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations as they pertain to plant operation and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in an ISO or documented environment.
  • Ability to understand and operate the systems and equipment used at the facility.
  • Ability to perform and analyze various system checks.
  • Mechanical/Electrical experience maintaining production equipment in a continuous production environment.
  • Demonstrated Experience in Structure of a Maintenance Organization with implementation of Maintenance Planning tools.
  • Ability to maintain and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic control equipment used in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly schematic drawings
  • Previous experience maintaining industrial equipment including overhead cranes, forklifts, frontend loaders and batch mixers a plus.


Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the production facility, plant production environment involving indoor & outdoor work, exposure to noise, dust, and in proximity to hot equipment.
  • Must be able to wear PPE when required.
  • Must be able to climb stairs/ladders, bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and assess machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
