The Area General Manager (AGM) for Utility Projects in our Enclosures unit will have the primary responsibility for the financial and operational performance of the business, as well as the development of its central strategy and supporting objectives. The AGM will develop and implement business strategies, support a safety-first culture, lead commercial excellence and operational improvement activities, drive the development of new products and markets, successfully integrate acquisitions and build and develop an effective team to achieve superior financial performance and growth. The AGM will report to the Enclosures President and will operate in a matrix environment while maintaining business focus across all regions in North America. The cable trench, fire and security wall product lines associated with this business segment currently generates ~$80M in revenue, though has strategic growth plans to generate in excess of $200M in the next five years by leveraging the optimal mix of new product development, operational and capacity improvements, acquisitions, strategic partnerships and commercial excellence.
Responsibilities

Full P&L responsibility for over $80M business, including operations, engineering, S&OP, assembly / warehouse functions

Develop strategy and roadmap to move the business to the leader in the next five years, generating sales of more than $200M

Enhance and maintain seamless integration with sales and customer service operations to create competitive advantage from vertical integration

Assist in the development of the growth strategy and influence the performance of the broader Oldcastle Enclosures management offering through increased cross-selling and improved collaboration with sales and operations

Develop leading market positions in all product categories by leveraging the appropriate mix of new product development, acquisitions and strategic commercial partnerships

Leverage Oldcastle footprint and offering in IPG, APG and AMAT to expand market opportunities

Utilize acquisitions to fill product gaps, expand market share and grow the addressable market – develop relationships with owners of key acquisition targets, generate business cases and strategic rationales, execute due diligence efforts and successfully integrate acquired businesses

Expand upon existing efforts of a highly technical commercial and customer-facing engineering force to influence all buying constituents in a specification-driven sales process

Work with corporate staff to improve efficiency and work processes and ensure group compliance with corporate policies

Develop and manage capex projects to add capacity or new products to support growth and improved performance

Recruit, coach and mentor team members for career advancement opportunities. Establish and develop a high performing and scalable team

Instill a high-performance safety culture throughout the business and lead by example

Support and develop commercial strategies and activities that provide a great customer experience that deepens relationships and grows sales
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or related field
-
MBA preferred
-
Expertise across a wide range of business functions (key focus on strategy, commercial, operations, finance and supply chain), with preference given to prior P&L management

10+ years of progressive management/executive experience in a manufacturing or related business, with preference for building products and construction materials industries

Proven track record of leading key functions in labor intensive and large product operations

Experience with construction site operations

Well-developed financial, analytical, forecasting and problem-solving skills

Working knowledge of construction contracts, plans and specifications

Travel up to 50%
