Summary:
The HR Business Partner is an on-site, hands-on, collaborative HR partner to plant leaders and employees at assigned cement plant location. This role is responsible for the localized delivery of HR operations and programs including policy interpretation and compliance, onboarding, employee and labor relations, leave administration, performance management, and talent development. The HRBP models effective business partnership and serves as the primary HR point of contact for employees and leaders at the site level, operating within the company's centralized HR business partner model. This is a fully onsite position.
What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Serve as the day-to-day HR resource for plant employees and leaders at assigned site
- Collaborate and align with centralized HR programs for benefits, compensation, talent acquisition, learning & development, and payroll
- Manage Leaves of Absence, FMLA, and ADA accommodations including record maintenance and coordination with vendors
- Manage employee relations issues including performance management, discipline, and arbitration; escalate to Sr. HRBP or HR Director when appropriate
- Support union contract interpretation and grievance handling with guidance from Sr. HRBP
- Investigate and document employee complaints; participate in EEOC or related processes
- Guide leaders through performance management activities including reviews and terminations
- Coordinate with talent acquisition team for site-level openings
- Responsible for onboarding of new employees for all site-level openings
- Administer the affirmative action plan and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Support continuous learning and development through training coordination and goal setting
- Maintain accurate employee records in UKG/HRIS and coordinate with HRIS team on data changes and updates
- Coordinate local employee engagement activities and plant events
- Support local training efforts as it relates to task training and/or safety programs
- Promotes and follows all aspects of safety guidelines and is a constant advocate for all safety programs and initiatives
- Maintain confidentiality of all employee information and HR data at all times
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
- SHRM-CP preferred
- Minimum years of experience in humarn resources.
- Ability to think critically, make decisions, and solve problems with timeliness and accuracy
- Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work independently
- Ability to maintain confidential information with discretion
- Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly; refer complex issues to Sr. HRBP
- Knowledge of applicant tracking systems and processes
- Proficient in HRIS systems; experience with UKG or similar HCM platform preferred
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment and labor laws
- Experience in an industrial/manufacturing/unionized environment preferred
- Ability to work from general policies and objectives
