 Job Description Summary

 

The Ready-Mix Dispatcher works in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to fulfill the needs of customers throughout Southern Colorado. He or she answers the phone promptly with an accommodating tone of voice, takes the customer’s order for ready-mixed concrete in a detailed, timely and professional manner, and records accurate delivery and product information on that order. This position reports directly to the Dispatch Manager.

Wage Range - $22.00 to $24.00 per hour DOE.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Dispatcher must be aware of special jobsite conditions that require specific trucks, spacing, material needs, etc.
  • Dispatcher needs to be familiar with the delivery area and must be able to assist lost drivers in finding jobsites, determine travel times to jobs.
  • Dispatcher must be customer service minded and, be able to keep a level head under stressful conditions in a high paced environment.
  • Dispatcher must be able to quickly build rapport and relationships with others, including team members, customers & vendors.
  • Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers.
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.  Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Follow directions of Foreperson as to daily tasks and expectations.
  • Display a professional, positive and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Reliable attendance is essential to performance in this role.
  • Possess a level of determination to successfully maximize production and efficiencies.  
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Promote and maintain a clean Work Environment.
  • Suggest and implement new ways to make our business better.
  • Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High School Degree or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Three to five years related customer service experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Requirements

  • Communicate effectively with customers as well as truck drivers to dispatch orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Must provide excellent customer service by phone; scheduling and organizing large numbers of people and equipment efficiently and quickly.
  • Handle multiple tasks concurrently and perform under pressure.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
  • Must be able to act quickly and creatively to solve problems; work independently and make decisions.
  • Utilize GPS tracking software and enter orders into dispatch scheduling software; ability to quickly learn different software programs.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements, policies, and procedures as outlined in the employee policy manual.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors/managers with other duties as required.
  • Available to work overtime, nights and weekends when necessary. Reliable attendance is essential in performance of the role. This is 5 days a week M-F position, with occasional Saturdays as needed.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements.

 

  • Basic computer skills for entering orders. Outlook, Word, Excel, Keyboard 25 + wpm.
  • Extensive knowledge of Pueblo and Southern Colorado, ability to read and understand maps.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide variety of customers and be an effective problem solver.
  • Knowledge of concrete products a plus but not required.

 

Language Skills:

Must read, write and speak English.

Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred, but not required

 

Mathematical Skills:

Basic math required – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work up to 65 hours per week including Saturdays.
